- Before moving to the Sunshine Coast (where I paint full time), I worked as an illustrator, graphic designer, exhibit designer and art director in Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ottawa, Ontario; and Vancouver, British Columbia for over 30 years. During this time I was fortunate to have been part of some extremely interesting and fulfilling design projects for a vast range of clients - Federal Government, National Arts Centre, Manitoba Theatre Centre, Habitat (UN conference on Human Settlements), Canada Post, Expo 86, Equity magazine, Simon Fraser University, BC Business magazine, the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre and the Vancouver East Cultural Centre. In each endeavor I worked as part of a team.
Wonderful paintings Ian. I like the depth you create. I would like to see them in person. I just have to ask; what do you finish these with when they are of acrylic and pastel? A spray on fixative?

ReplyDeleteI use materials such as recycled paper, cardboard, plastic drop sheets and plastic bags - and mount them on the canvas. I may apply the plastic directly onto wet acrylic paint or use either gloss or matte acrylic medium (or a combination of both) to adhere the material to the canvas.
